The MFA curriculum in Fine Art allows candidates to concentrate on Painting and Sculpture. The department encourages candidates to explore personal direction in figurative and non-figurative work in a variety of media. Students will learn Etching, Relief Printing, Book Arts, and Lithography and have the opportunity to work from an extensive selection of Litho Stones. Students may choose to develop their thesis in an abstract or realistic manner, or a combination of both styles.
The MFA Fine Art program is designed to allow students to select crossover courses from other departments to complete their final thesis, and encourages the fullest exploration of a candidate's personal creative possibilities. The faculty, all successful artists themselves, furnish the technical skills that support the development of each graduate candidate's individual vision.
The Master of Fine Arts requires completion of 63 semester units.
