The AIU Online Associate of Arts in Business Administration degree features a concentration in Healthcare Administration. This degree program combines the real-world business skills taught in our AABA degree program and applies them to specific knowledge of today's rapidly expanding field of Healthcare Management.
Students learn to identify key ethical, theoretical, and practical issues related to medical records. They learn how to perform essential clerical and organizational tasks within a healthcare office. Discussion of ethical, legislative, and regulatory issues relative to the day-to-day operations of a medical or allied health office is also included in this up-to-date, real-world curriculum.
Students who complete the AABA in Healthcare Administration will have acquired an up-to-date knowledge that can prepare them to pursue jobs such as: Admitting Clerk, Patient Services Representative, Healthcare Supply Coordinator, Front Office Medical Assistant, Medical Records Clerk and many other in-demand professions.
Courses required to complete the AABA in Healthcare Administration include:
Medical Terminology. This course focuses on the practical application of medical vocabulary. Students become skilled at understanding the derivation, analysis and reconstruction of medical terminology. Also covered is the operative, diagnostic, therapeutic and symptomatic terminology of all body systems, as well as systemic and surgical terminology.
Medical Office Procedures. This course presents clerical and administrative responsibilities of the medical assistant. Students focus on the specific procedures, skills, and activities necessary for establishing and maintaining an efficient medical and allied health office.
