The AIU Online Associate of Arts in Business Administration degree features a concentration in Visual Communication. This degree program combines business tutorials from our university's AABA degree program with specific skills needed for a successful career in the creatively diverse field of visual communication.

This career-focused curriculum is for students wishing to parlay their creative skills into rewarding, interesting professions. Graduates will be able to apply design principles and techniques to the creation of visual solutions. They will also be challenged to apply project management skills to design creative visual compositions.

Students who complete the AABA in Visual Communication will have acquired up-to-date knowledge that focuses on preparing them to pursue careers such as Advertising Specialist, Graphic Design Assistant, Communications Specialist, Gallery Assistant, Production Assistant and many other similar positions.

Courses required to complete the AABA in Visual Communication include:

Visual Literacy. Elements of design are introduced through the exploration of various techniques. Students will closely examine the principles of color theory. Topics include line, form, texture, color, balance, scale and proportion as they apply to working and finished design projects.

Research and Design Solutions. In this course, students will explore the creative thinking process as it is applied to a project and examine strategies to develop effective research methods. Students will investigate methods of visual problem solving through effective research. The process of collaboration will be utilized as an introduction to working as part of a design team.

Business Operations in Visual Communications. This course explores the business and project management skills needed in the visual communication field. It introduces students to invoices, contracts and legal issues. The class will also explore career and job opportunities available in the field.

This accelerated degree program can be completed quickly. The curriculum has also been carefully designed to provide a seamless transition into our Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree program.
