First Year
BUS_100: Management Theory and Practice.
A study of the basic concepts of management built on an understanding of organizational theory. Equal
emphasis is placed on theoretical and operational aspects of the manager’s role in organizations. The
course deals with management issues: planning and controlling, structuring and staffing, directing and
leading, and business and society with special emphasis on managerial ethics.
BUS_101: Financial Mathematics
The course aims to introduce the student to the basic principles involved in the management of financial
assets. The course covers interest and amount, discounts and present value, loan refunds, leasing
operations, floating rate, choice amount investments.
BUS_102: Intro to Accounting
Nature and social setting of accounting; uses of accounting information, introduction to basic accounting
concepts and procedures; interpretation of financial statements.
BUS_104: Principles of Economics
A general introduction to the principles of micro- and macroeconomics. The microeconomic portion revolves
around policy-relevant concerns on a small scale (earnings determination, poverty, private market failure,
public market failure, etc.). The historical and institutional aspects of contemporary capitalism are then
incorporated into the analysis, with particular emphasis on the role of government. The macroeconomic
portion is concerned with key economic variables, such as income, price and output indices, employment and
unemployment, and interest rates.
BUS_105: Intro to Marketing
An in-depth investigation of marketing methods, institutions, and practices highlights this course.
Content area includes product concept and design, distribution, alternatives, promotion and advertising
programs, and pricing decisions, with emphasis on understanding consumers.
BUS_106: Intro to the Law
This course includes a general background on the importance of law: its nature, origin, and development
with case studies. An overview of selected court systems from around the world will be covered.
BUS_108: Computer Office Application
The student will master the fundamentals computer applications found in the modern office as well as
develop a further understanding of database and spreadsheet packages. The course emphasized the practical
business applications of these two environments.
CMP_101: Introduction to the Internet
This is a hands-on course that will stress Internet basics, the uses of a web browser, effecive searching techniques, the evaluation of information, and e-commerce.
HUM_103: Interpersonal Communications
This course is designed to increase the student’s ability to communicate at an interpersonal level.
HUM_125: English Composition I
This course covers the basics of English composition to assist students in improving their writing skills
with emphasis being placed on construction of paragraphs, sentence structure, proper grammar and spelling.
Second Year
BUS_201: Managerial Accounting
Management use of accounting data for planning and control; theories and practices of cost accounting and
analysis of data for management decision making is covered in this course.
BUS_202: Microeconomics
A study of the factors underlying the economic decisions of household and business units; analysis of the
determinants of demand and supply, utility, and cost of production; price and output determination under
various market structures; and pricing and employment of resources.
BUS_203: Computer Methods in Business
Covers the way information technology is used and applied for problem-solving, the new and emerging
technologies as the are being implemented in real organizations, applications to personal and professional
practice, and the challenges and opportunities of IT in international business situations.
BUS_204: Business Law
This course covers the important legal issues related to business as incorporated in the law of
contracts, business organizations, agency, property, sales, commercial paper, labor relations, and
antitrust.
BUS_205: Business Finance
This course covers sources, uses, cost and control of funds in business enterprises, internal management
of working capital and income sources and cost of the long-term funds, capital budgeting; financing of the
growth and expansion of business enterprises; government regulation of the financial process.
BUS_211: Career Prep
This introduces the student to the process of career preparation by helping students to understand
themselves and their goals. This course reviews self-assessment techniques, resume writing, job
interviewing techniques and application preparation. The purpose of this course is to provide
students with the ability to prepare a cover letter and resume, prepare for a job interview, and
understand the importance of dressing for success.
BUS_212: Management Of Change
This course studies the business organization as it transforms from brick to click from the human
perspective. Effective leadership are analyzed; also, group and team building strategies are
developed. The purpose of this course is to provide students with the ability to leverage the
technical advantages learned in an organizational setting.
HUM_280: English Composition II
Extensive and intensive practice in writing and revising expository prose and essays is the focus of this
class. Emphasis will be on developing critical thinking skills with concentrated work on the process of
developing persuasive essays.
HUM_235: Public Speaking
Focus on choice and organization of materials, reasoning, audience
analysis, oral style and delivery. A review of outstanding historical
rhetoric may be included.
SSC_228: Psychology of Success
The Psychology of Success This course examines the psychology of organizational decision making, judgment and implementing
leadership. Course focuses on how firms formulate, implement, and evaluate successful business strategies. Strategic-management
concepts and techniques are studied.
Third Year
PA_309: Stress Management
Covers the basics of dealing with the stress of working in the public administration career field.
BUS_301: Leadership and Decision Making
The manager as leader and decision maker. Various leadership theories, styles, and behaviors and decision
making models and techniques are discussed.
BUS_302: Organizational Development
Organizational behavior and organization theory concepts show how managers can improve organizational
effectiveness by attending to the human side of the enterprise. Topics include leadership, motivation,
power and politics, and organization design are examined for their effects on performance.
BUS_303: International Financial Institutions
This course covers international financial institutions and aspects of which have a great impact on the
operation of international corporations. Other major institutions examined, include; World Bank, BERS,
EBRD, UN, WTO, etc.
BUS_304: Global and Corporate Finance
Asset Choice and institutional operations in international finance, foreign exchange problems, the impact
of international financial problems and operations on business, short and long term international
financing.
BUS_305: Personnel Management
Students study employer/employee relationships, personnel policies, operations and training, techniques
of personnel administration, recruitment, inductions, communications, and discipline.
BUS_306: Financial Management
A study of different forms of organizations and their financing as viewed by business executives and
investors. Methods, instruments, and control factors in raising, administering, and distributing funds to
business firms.
BUS_309: International Business Strategy
Covers how a company becomes international in perspective and operation. Includes marketing,
negotiations, and control of operations.
SSC_300: Behavioral Science
This course will give an overview of sociocultural theory including the classical theorists (Marx, Weber, and Durkeim) as well as the
contemporary perspective. Social problems, stratification and life in urban communities will also be covered,
SSC_301: Advertising and Public Relations
Covers aspects of conducting successful advertising and public relations operations in business.
Fourth Year
SSC_428: Macroeconomics
An overview of economics, national income, savings and investment, cost of living, inflation, growth and
recession in the U.S. economy, money, banks, federal reserve, demand for money, monetary policy, business
cycles, government spending and taxation, Keynesian fiscal policy and the international economy.
BUS_400: Comparative Economic Systems
A comparative study of capitalist and socialist economic systems, Theories of the evolution of economic
systems are presented and applied to analyze the institutional characteristics or alternative economic
systems.
BUS_402: Logistics and Operations Management
Examines problems encountered in planning, operating, and controlling production of goods and services.
Logistics studies, of the efficient delivery of goods and services. A total cost approach, recognizes
this, involves obvious vehicle routing issues but also shipment size and mix, warehouse location, product
design, and customer services.
BUS_403: Strategic Management
This course covers managerial decision making as relates to planning for the development and growth of an
enterprise. Topics include, demand analysis and short range forecasting, resource formulation, and
benefit/cost analysis.
BUS_404: Entrepreneurial Management
This course is to prepare students who intend to start a new venture, purchase an ongoing business or
turnaround a distressed company. The many facets of entrepreneurial organization form, funding sources, the
start-up tea, and product launch are illustrated through field and case studies.
BUS_406: Issues in Change Management
Case studies in the management of change in a business environment. Research and analysis of cases
related to the management of change. Instructor handouts.
BUS_408: Foreign Exchange and Money Market
Dramatic changes in the foreign exchange and money markets have considerably altered the way
international business will be conducted in the new millennium. The advent of the Euro, the enormous
growth of the swap market and the daily increase in the development of derivative instruments are at the
forefront of this evolution. Course includes closely related money markets such as the commercial paper
and Eurocommercial paper markets, national money markets, interest rate options markets, and numerous
related instruments.
BUS_409: Business in Asia
Major aspects of the Asian business environment and how Asian enterprises are managed. Problems and
opportunities of foreign corporations in Asia are explored with emphasis on marketing.
HUM_405: Employee Relations
The employee relation function from a managerial perspective is covered. Selection, compensation, performance appraisal, and
training and developnent are discussed.
HUM_427: Ethics and Social issues
Introduces some of the main ethical theories and looks at the contributions of many thinkers, including Aristotle, Aquinas,
Hobbes, Kant, Nietzche, Moore, Ayer and Rawls. Are we free to choose what we do? Should we judge actions by their results or by
intentions? Looks at personal relationships, law and order and global issues.
