The Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science is designed to provide a background in programming, programming concepts and operating system software. Specific courses provide the student with a sample of the most current programming techniques. Additional courses are offered to enhance the students' understanding of software development and provide an understanding of the theory involved in computer systems development.

In addition to the general Bachelor of Science, Computer Science program described above, Kennedy-Western University also offers the mid-career professional an opportunity to select a degree program within Computer Science that contains a targeted focus specific to a particular area of concentration. This is relative to a specialized area of interest for the student whose career has a specific offshoot from the main Bachelor of Science, Computer Science degree program, enabling more potential advancement in a specific career direction. Whether the concentration is in the area of Software Design, Software Development or Programming, students will be able to differentiate their program from the general bachelor level Computer Science program determined by selecting 40% of their courses from the Areas of Concentration listed below.

Bachelor of Science, Computer Science with a Concentration in Programming

The area of concentration in Programming is offered as part of the bachelor level Computer Science program for the purpose of providing students with careers in the computer science field a focus on current programming techniques. Students will learn how to write, implement and test algorithms as well as utilize compilers to develop and decipher programs. Emphasis in this concentration of Programming is placed on system effectiveness from a system administration and user perspective. The Computer Science with a Concentration in Programming draws together the fundamental concepts of designing and using database systems and applications to file storage, maintenance and retrieval.
