Liberty University - Master of Education

Liberty University
Master of Education

Liberty University strives to produce educators who model high standards before their peers, and who have dedicated their lives to educational leadership.
Concurrent with this goal, the graduate program offered by the School of Education is designed to prepare students for effective leadership in both Christian, public, and private schools. The Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Administration/Supervision, Special Education, School Counseling, and Reading Specialist programs lead to Virginia licensure. All programs demand high academic and moral standards of students. Completion of a master's degree program in the School of Education implies thorough knowledge of the content of the student's major.

Those desiring to receive licensure in the State of Virginia must meet licensure criteria. The School may require certain prerequisites, in addition to those stated above, for the Master's degree candidate coming from a non-educational undergraduate background or who needs to meet the equivalent of an academic major in a liberal arts area. The maximum transfer hours allowed for the Master of Education is 6 hours.

Course work for the Masters programs are offered in multiple delivery formats, including on-campus and off-campus options. Each of the Masters programs require a minimum of 9 hours in the residential formats.

Here's what students are saying about Liberty University's Distance Learning Program:

" I am glad that I enrolled in the DLP because spiritually I grew through the program. Between 1995 and 2000, I got married, had three children, and moved twice... I also earned my MA in Counseling, which was my dream. It was hard, but it was well worth it"

—Sacia Dear

"Because of Liberty University's Distance Learning Program, I am able to assist my husband in his ministry."

—Edna Cogdell: Germany

"Because I was established in my career, I did not want to relocate in order to pursue my education. The convenience and flexibility of the program really appealed to me."

—Gary Coiro: Westerville, Ohio

"Teaching school full-time and being a single mother of three children, there was no way that I could have gone to a university ...I would have been 100 years old before I finished! I also couldn't be gone from the house late at night. The Distance Learning Program worked well for me because I could study late at night - it's convenient. It's been a big help that way."

—Lisa Gordon

Whatever your plans for the future, we can help you prepare to meet the challenge with an education that is academically excellent.
