The nursing department is pleased to announce the creation of a new and innovative distance-learning format for its Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree, allowing a registered nurse to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in a non-traditional delivery format without leaving their family, career, and home.

The Department of Nursing- Credibility

Liberty's carefully selected faculty, through dedication to academic excellence and education of the whole person, are continuously challenged by the recognition that we have the opportunity to impact the world's greatest asset- our students. Most of our nursing faculty are involved in clinical practice, possess advanced degrees and certifications in their areas of specialty, and are actively involved in professional development and community service. As Christian educators, they are also committed to shaping the minds of students both academically and spiritually. This commitment to our students teaches them more than just how to make a living - it teaches them how to live.

Online RN-to-BSN - Convenience

Our innovative distance-learning format allows registered nurses to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in a non-traditional delivery format without leaving their family, career, and home.

Classes are admitted in May, August, and January of each year. The concept of Cohort education utilized by the nursing department fosters relationships and a group support network between nursing students by establishing a common goal of completing a degree in a non-traditional course delivery method.

Only six-credit hours of on-campus residency are required. These classes are offered in a one-week intensive format on the campus of Liberty University. The program, which requires a minimum of thirty-credit hours earned at Liberty, includes twenty-six required hours of nursing with the total number of credit hours required for program completion dependent on a student's prior academic background and transfer work.

Students will begin the program with the first of two on-campus, one-week intensives, during this time students will have the opportunity to meet the nursing faculty and become acquainted with their high standards of teaching and service to students.

A Center of Excellence

The faculty of the RN-to-BSN program are committed to providing a convenient and enjoyable learning experience for all students. High academic standards are upheld in the atmosphere of nurturing support and caring. Graduates from the RN-to-BSN program are employed in hospital and community group settings as nursing leaders. Many continue their education to complete master's degrees or become nurse practitioners. With a nationwide shortage of advanced practice nurses and nurse educators in schools of nursing, BSN preparation opens the door to many career options.

Bruce Jolly
Master of Arts in Religion

As an aerospace engineer in the United States Air Force, I really appreciated the flexibility afforded me through Liberty’s Distance Learning Program. The virtual classroom provided a real classroom feel, and tools like the online discussion board cultivated great discussion and interaction between both students and faculty. My wife and I are interested in working in the mission field, so the opportunity to finish a master’s program in religion while maintaining a full-time job and caring for my family was a real blessing. I am thankful for the new knowledge I possess, as the degree program has been great preparation for our future mission work.

Avril Watt
Master in Business Administration

Last summer I made the decision to switch jobs and join a growing manufacturing company in their accounts job department. I accepted a lower-level position, but was asked to show what I had learned through my MBA studies. After only three months, I was given a very positive review and a handsome pay increase. A short time later, I was delighted to be promoted to a management position. My personal income has doubled, with the potential for several further increases in the next couple of years. I am using…the principles I learned through the MBA program, and I am very appreciative to the faculty of Liberty for investing their time and skills into such a great Distance Learning Program.
