The School of Health Sciences offers associate and bachelor’s degree programs in health care and health sciences as well as certificates of specialization and the undergraduate component of an entry-level master’s degree program in physician assistant. A preprofessional year option offers preparation for most majors in the School of Health Sciences. Most programs in the School of Health Sciences have specific admission requirements, which are described in each program’s listing in the Programs of Study section. Applicants may be required to meet health and legal requirements in addition to academic criteria. Admission is competitive, and meeting the requirements for a program does not guarantee admission. Carefully review the requirements for any program to which you plan to apply; you may also want to discuss your background and application with an advisor. ACCEPTANCE TO SELECTIVE ENROLLMENT PROGRAMS Selective enrollment programs in the School of Health Sciences follow the University’s policy of rolling admissions. Applications are considered until classes are filled and then are considered for placement on a waiting list. If you are accepted into a selective enrollment program, you must accept your position in the class by the specified acceptance date. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of your space. Students who wish to postpone their acceptance until the following year are required to reapply. PROGRAM FEES Federal regulations require that students entering learning situations involving real or potential contact with individuals comply with specific health requirements, including screening for tuberculosis; vaccination against such diseases as tetanus, rubella, and hepatitis; and a physical exam/health assessment to rule out any conditions that contraindicate the practice of the chosen field. You must fulfill all such requirements at your own expense. In addition to University tuition, deposits, and fees, students enrolling in the School of Health Sciences programs must pay clinical, laboratory, program, and special fees when applicable. Contact Student Services for the current schedule of fees. CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS Before you can be admitted into any clinical course in the School of Health Sciences, you must have documentation of the following items:
