The D.B.A. serves as preparation for advanced positions of leadership in business, government, philanthropy, and policy and advocacy organizations. The D.B.A. emphasizes the application of research as a means to solve organizational problems and to devise and to execute strategy that is effective and ethical.
D.B.A. learners gain the skills to advance to top leadership positions and to retain them through rigorous reflection on their professional experiences, in-depth exposure to the insights offered by the world's leading organizations, review of classic and cutting edge theory and research, and mastery of methods and techniques to identify, understand, apply, and communicate strategically critical knowledge.
As stewards of the discipline of Business Administration, D.B.A. learners focus upon the communication and application of knowledge in Business Administration.
Throughout history the challenge to managers has been to manage the organization's human resources to achieve peaceful, productive and profitable organizational outcomes. This specialization studies the interrelationships between human resources and the business organization, equipping the manager to function as a HRM specialist in business, industry, and service organizations.
Graduation Requirements:
A total of 81 semester units at the graduate level beyond the Bachelor's degree must meet the following requirements: A minimum of 51 units of graduate work must be completed through the University: 27 units in instruction, and 24 units in dissertation preparation courses including the submission and defense of an accepted dissertation. Cumulative grade point average of "B", 3.0, or higher. Satisfactory completion of the doctoral comprehensive assessment. All financial obligations to the University paid in full. Official transcripts on file for all transfer units accepted by the University, and for basis of admission.
The University may accept a maximum of 30 semester units in transfer toward the Doctorate degree for graduate course work completed at an accredited college or university with a grade average of "B" or better.
