As a Doctor of Education, you will broaden your sphere of influence so that you can shape the future of education in your school, district, and community. This program has two specializations, designed for experienced teachers and administrators who want to continue their practice while assuming leadership roles in their schools and communities.

Among adult learners, experience, values, opinions, and learning styles vary greatly. Actively engaging adult learners requires a unique set of skills and a broad understanding of adult development. Walden University’s new Doctor of Education with a specialization in Higher Education and Adult Learning was created specifically to improve the competencies of adult educators. Whether you teach at a community college or provide training for adults in a school district or corporate setting, this program has the versatility to meet your professional goals.

The program’s curriculum is uniquely designed and teaches research skills in conjunction with core coursework. This combination of core content, research skills and a final doctoral study project will lead to your development as an innovative and critical thinker, who is prepared to examine, experiment, and reflect on practices that empower adults to be lifelong learners.
