The MS in Psychology degree with a specialization in Organizational Psychology and Development (OPD) equips students in both scholarship and practice in the approach to organizational change and the optimal utilization of people as change agents across contemporary organizational structures. Particular expertise can be developed in a variety of areas, including:
  • The evolution of the organization - including the dynamics of international and virtual organizations
  • Talent management and development
  • Leadership and motivation through a consultative approach
  • Cross-cultural communication and collaboration
  • Organizational adaptability to positive social change within a global environment

Students have the opportunity to customize their learning experience through outcomes focused on either practical application or continued research with a choice of a culminating thesis or field experience. With this approach, students can elect to develop functional skills around solving international, multi-cultural, and distance-related challenges. Likewise, students have the opportunity to expand upon the research elements of the program with the completion of the thesis, in preparation for continued studies at the doctoral level. All hours earned in the master's program may be applied to the industrial/organizational track in the doctoral program for students who apply for and are admitted to that program upon completion of the M.A.

Walden's MS in Psychology with a specialization in Organizational Psychology and Development is designed for recent graduates as well as experienced business managers, HR professionals, educators and consultants who desire to focus their careers on revolutionary aspects of organizational change with respect to individuals within the context of contemporary organizations.

The degree leads to knowledge of business and management fundamentals as well as an understanding of attitudes and behaviors that enhance individual and organizational effectiveness. Graduates will have a theoretical and practical foundation in Organizational Psychology and Development, which will make them most desired as educators, researchers, and consultants with an advanced perspective on the field.
