The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting equips students with business and financial skills necessary to advance in the field of Accounting. In addition, the combination of management and general education courses in the program help students apply skills in general management, critical thinking, logic, communication, and problem solving to workplace challenges. This program also includes critical courses that cover such topics as cost accounting, financial accounting, auditing, and financial reporting. This degree prepares students for entry-level positions in the field such as accounts payable manager, cost estimator, payroll administrator, or loan and credit counselor.

Program Objectives

Upon successful completion of the program of study, students should be able to:

-Demonstrate an understanding of business principles, financial practices and activities.

-Apply interpersonal skills such as human relations, individual and group behavioral dynamics to standard management practices for motivating people in the workplace.

-Demonstrate the ability to listen, absorb and research information and translate into effective oral and written business communication or action.

-Describe the Human Resource function within a business with regard to recruitment, selection, training & development, discipline, termination and personnel laws.

-Use current IT systems and application to critically and creatively solve business issues.

-Apply statistical and Survey of Research Methodologies to business applications through available technologies.

-Demonstrate an understanding of Management Information Systems by discussing how information is gathered, stored, transmitted and utilized in the decision-making process.

-Effect change within an organization.

-Analyze and apply business and cyber law to business practices.

-Research potential customer base, produce a marketable product and deliver the product to the customer.

Accounting Objectives:

-Formulate sound and ethical business decisions based on standard principles of finance and accounting.

-Demonstrate a knowledge of intermediate to advanced accounting principles.

-Incorporate micro and macro economic principles into financial management practices.

-Integrate Excel, Access and current software into business applications.

-Demonstrate a knowledge of credit and cash flow accounting and management.
