The Associate of Arts in Church Music prepares congregational song leaders and church music leaders for small church situations or music assistants for larger situations. This program is offered to those who wish to receive training as a church musician, but do not have the time, finances, or the ability to complete the Bachelor of Arts in Church Music.
Upon completion of this program, students should be able to:
1 Display a fundamental knowledge of musical skills.
2 Show a general understanding of our musical heritage.
3 Perform acceptably as leaders of congregational singing.
4 Perform acceptably as choral directors in some church situations.
5 Describe the role of music in worship and evangelism.
6 Verbalize the ethical and spiritual aspects of music ministry.
