The purpose of the Communications Department is to provide and assess quality learning opportunities in which students actively work to develop their skills in reading, writing, researching, speaking, listening, and thinking.
Learning Outcomes
At the completion of the general education components relating to communications, the student will be able to:
1.Read, comprehend, and analyze the power of written and spoken words.
2.Determine audience needs and convey ideas using written, spoken, and presentational communication skills in individual and group settings.
3.Review and assess their problem-solving and decision-making skills and frequently assess their own learning.
4.Examine and apply their organizational and planning skills in written and spoken communications to advocate and influence.
5.Examine their reasoning and evaluation skills, demonstrating appropriate traditional and on-line research skills with application of credible resources.
6.Assemble and create various written and oral communications with appropriate technology and documentation.
