CAREER OPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Students interested in a criminal justice career should be able to work under pressure, accept direction, express themselves orally and in writing, have self -respect and the ability to command respect from others, use good judgment, be articulate, considerate, flexible, compassionate, dependable, enthusiastic, fair, honest, neat, stable, industrious, intelligent, logical, mature, motivated, observant, physically fit, punctual, resourceful, tactful, and willing to listen.
Numerous career opportunities exist for qualified individuals interested in a criminal justice career. There are thousands of city, county, state, tribal, federal and private agencies hiring employees every year. Typical job titles are: Police Officer, Corrections Officer, Records Specialist, Community Service Officer and Support Services Technician. Generally, starting pay ranges between $2,500 and $3,600 per month, depending upon the agency and location.
