The EMT-Intermediate has more advanced training in intravenous infusion administration, administration of subcutaneous injections, administration of certain specific medications and respiratory interventions. EMT-I’s primary function in rural areas it to enhance the level of care, or they augment paramedics in larger advanced life-support ambulance services.
