The primary purpose of this program is to offer students the opportunity to complete the first two years of study leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. However, some graduates seek employment at entry-level jobs immediately upon graduation. Graduates of this program may transfer within The City University to York College, which has a fully articulated baccalaureate degree program articulating with a graduate program at Hunter College. Thus, the graduate of QCC’s Environmental Health program has the opportunity of going from the A.S. through the Ph.D. within the field without leaving The City University. Graduates may also transfer into related environmental programs at units of The City University of New York and the State University of New York, as well as other colleges and universities.
Environmental Health is an expanding field in both the private and public sectors. The Environmental Health graduate with a Bachelor’s degree is prepared to seek employment at the entry level in the areas of occupational safety and health, air pollution, water pollution, food protection, toxic and hazardous wastes and materials, radiation protection, noise pollution, insect and rodent control, water supply and treatment, solid waste treatment, and accident prevention, among others.
