Mission: It is the mission of Blackfeet Community College to provide transfer academic and relevant vocational programs of high quality that lead to appropriate associate degrees and certificates. Further, the college provides a core of general education instruction that results in identifiable student competence in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, critical analysis and logical thinking, with literacy achieved in the discourse or technology appropriate to the student’s program of study. The Environmental Science program is designed to prepare students for employment or transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning in areas of environment science such as environmental quality, environmental conservation/preservation and fish and wildlife management. Students who complete the program will have multidisciplinary understanding of environmental problems and solutions. They will be able to integrate the many different aspects of environmental science from the natural world and our cultural world. The students will be able to relate the underlying scientific theory to how environmental considerations affect our everyday lives.
Upon completion of the of this program, a student will apply biological, chemical, and physical principles to the study of the physical environment and the solution of environmental problems. The student will have a knowledge of the diversity of all organisms that live and function together in nature, learn how modern technologies are changing our view of environmental science and ecology., and gain experience in modern analytical measurements and monitoring techniques used in the field of environmental science.This curricula is designed to preserve the cultural tradition and heritage of the Blackfeet People relative to Elementary Education by integration of traditional concepts in the course of study.
