The Geographic Information Systems Associate in Science program prepares you for continued study toward a bachelor’s degree in GIS or in a related major such as geographic information technology, urban planning, resources management, or environmental science. The skills taught, such as GIS, GPS, and remote sensing technologies, may also qualify you to enter certain GIS-related careers directly upon completing your degree.
The College’s state-of-the-art GIS facilities include a complete suite of ESRI software, ERDAS Imagine, IDRISI, and the latest GPS receivers. The program is closely associated with the NASA-sponsored Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology, located on Cayuga’s Auburn campus, so students can network with the Institute’s GIS specialists. Plus, internship opportunities at the Institute offer the chance to take part in projects that use revolutionary GIS technology to solve real-world challenges.
