Students will study Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related geospatial technologies including GPS, remote sensing, photogrammetry and land survey. Practical, labbased applications are emphasized.The associate degree option is offered as stand-alone choices for the student. Additionally, completion of the introductory certificate courses can be the foundation for the more rigorous associate degree curriculum.
GIS is becoming increasingly common in a wide range of application areas in both the commercial and government sectors. Because of this, numerous organizations have indicated that they are looking for both one-year certificate trainees in the short term and two-year associate degree employees in the long term.
