Mission:
It is the mission of Blackfeet Community College to provide transfer academic and relevant vocational programs of high quality that lead to appropriate associate degrees and certificates. Further, the college provides a core of general education instruction that results in identifiable student competence in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, critical analysis and logical thinking, with literacy achieved in the discourse or technology appropriate to the student’s program of study. Students will leave this program as apprentices with a one-year certificate. They will have basic knowledge in operations and safety techniques of Heavy Equipment machinery. Two books are required for the core curriculum and Heavy Equipment operators level one. These will be completed in this order, before students are allowed on machines. In addition, the student will have job entry preparation for the Heavy Equipment field.
This curricula is designed to preserve the cultural tradition and heritage of the Blackfeet People relative to Heavy Equipment Operation by integration of traditional concepts in the course of study.
