Mission: It is the mission of Blackfeet Community College to provide transfer academic and relevant vocational programs of high quality that lead to appropriate associate degrees and certificates. Further, the college provides a core of general education instruction that results in identifiable student competence in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, critical analysis and logical thinking, with literacy achieved in the discourse or technology appropriate to the student’s program of study. Because of the changing nature of the demands placed upon members of the Blackfeet Tribe in today’s tribal society and beyond, the College maintains a strong commitment to providing opportunities for life-long education including basic skills development, high school completion, GED, continuing education and high quality community service programs. The Human Services Department at Blackfeet Community College seeks to educate students pursuing careers in counseling, social service and criminal justice. The goals of the Human Services curriculum set the foundation for students transferring to four year institutions to complete a Bachelors/Masters in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Chemical Dependency and other related behavioral science fields. All courses require the integration of Blackfeet/Cultural views. Additional goals are to provide courses that enhance knowledge on social issues of importance to the community and to promote professional growth of current employees in human services organizations.
This curricula is designed to preserve the cultural tradition and heritage of the Blackfeet People relative to Human Services by integration of traditional concepts in the course of study.
