Finger Lakes Community College offers a two-year program leading to the Associate Arts Liberal Arts Sciences degree. This degree is intended for students who wish to prepare to transfer to four-year institutions to pursue a baccalaureate degree. When all requirements of the Associate Arts Liberal Arts Sciences degree are met, students will have courses equivalent to those offered during the freshman and sophomore years of most four-year institutions. The Associate Arts Liberal Arts Sciences degree at Finger Lakes Community College is designed to transfer to most four-year institutions in the State University of New York system as well as other colleges and universities. This degree is recognized in articulation agreements between Finger Lakes Community College and other institutions. Students should consult with an advisor concerning the specific requirements of the four-year institution to which they will transfer.

The goals of Associate Arts Liberal Arts Sciences degree program are:
  • To provide students with sufficient academic background of diversified subject matter to enable them to enter into and successfully compete within the framework of a four-year institution.
  • To develop in students all of the 11 Competencies identified by Finger Lakes Community College as learning outcomes of liberal education.
