The Plastics option in Mechanical Engineering Technology was created in response to student and industry demand for a curricular specialty in plastic materials and plastic processes. (Ohio is one of the largest producers of plastic materials in the world). In the MET-Plastics option, students receive specialized training in the areas of thermoplastic, thermoset and composite materials, blow molds and injection molds, and plastics joining and assembly techniques. This two-year associate’s degree program prepares students for immediate employment in the field of mechanical design with a plastics specialty. The automotive, light and heavy manufacturing, and plastics processing and fabricating industries are among those that hire mechanical designers.
