Mission:
It is the mission of Blackfeet Community College to provide transfer academic and relevant vocational programs of high quality that lead to appropriate associate degrees and certificates. Further, the college provides a core of general education instruction that results in identifiable student competence in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, critical analysis and logical thinking, with literacy achieved in the discourse or technology appropriate to the student’s program of study. Because of the changing nature of the demands placed upon members of the Blackfeet Tribe in today’s tribal society and beyond, the College maintains a strong commitment to providing opportunities for life-long education including basic skills development, high school completion, GED, continuing education and high quality community service programs. This commitment to serve the needs of the Blackfeet Tribe includes electronically accessed distance learning.

While Natural Resource Programs at the mainstream institutions provide excellent technical and practical education, none incorporate Blackfeet cultural values as an integral part of the curricula. The results are technicians inadequately trained to work in a reservation setting where local cultures may differ on Natural Resource Management philosophy. Blackfeet Community College’s curriculum design, on the other hand, directly addresses cultural values and historical uses in regard to natural resources. Blackfeet Community College will provide students with the knowledge and training to work with diverse groups of people with respect to the local cultures on Natural Resource Management issues.
This curricula is designed to preserve the cultural tradition and heritage of the Blackfeet People relative to Natural Resource Management by integration of traditional concepts in the course of study.
