The Process and Instrumentation Technology program prepares graduates for entry-level process and instrumentation positions in chemical and related industries. The program provides instruction designed to develop a knowledge of the monitoring and controlling principles used in modern industry as well as the technical skills needed to apply these principles.

Mathematics, communications skills, computer, safety, and science courses are included to provide the broad-based skills and knowledge essential to modern technicians. Specialized hands-on and theory training in the areas of chemistry, instrumentation, maintenance, process operations, and unit operations provides the technical competencies needed in the industry.

Students entering the program have an option to enter in the Instrument Technician track . The instrument technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of control devices. Technicians in both areas must have knowledge of mechanics, electronics, pneumatics, and unit operations.
