The Safety and Security Management program at Cincinnati State prepares students for entry-level or advanced management positions in safety and security industries. The program integrates several certifications specifically designed to meet the needs of today’s safety and security organizations, and the degree prepares graduates to work within the new and ever-changing local, state, and federal regulations.
The curriculum includes courses in basic law, regulations and compliance, hazardous materials, emergency response, domestic and international terrorism, homeland security management, risk management, and disaster preparedness.

Hazardous Material Incident
The major targets a specific industry in the area of safety and security. The student who completes this curriculum will benefit by receiving training and certification relevant to the particular career while at the same time completing requirements for a degree. In addition to helping professionals gain proficiency, this program may also be used to help enhance upward mobility for career professionals.
The Safety and Security Management program was developed in conjunction with local industry representatives to assure that local needs and a comprehensive listing of requirements was identified and addressed. The value-added nature of this degree program benefits both the student and the region by providing better educated employees with the necessary skills to rise upward rapidly within their career tracks, and by providing future leaders for the Tri-State community.

The Safety and Security curriculum ensures graduates are prepared to help their agencies meet any safety and security situation and learn how to respond with multiple agencies. Students receive certification or eligibility for certification in the following areas:
American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS)
First Responder, EMT Basic
HAZWOPER
Incident Command System (CIS)
National Incident Management System (NIMS)
Healthcare Leadership graduates will receive IAHSS certification

Various public sector agencies, health care facilities, and construction companies
