This program will prepare students in making precise measurements of the earth’s surface for the purpose of establishing property boundaries, subdividing land parcels, creating maps of land and water forms for planning, navigation and general use, and the layout and control of construction projects. Students will learn the operation of sophisticated optical and electronic surveying instruments needed for compiling the above information. Students will also acquire an ability to solve surveying problems in practice by applying fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering by using modern surveying techniques, including the role of computers in surveying.
