The Veterinary Technology program combines general education and basic science courses with specific courses related to veterinary technology over seven quarters of continuous study. The second year of study is particularly unique in that both university and private practice settings are utilized to obtain hands-on clinical training; this program may require evening and weekend participation on the part of the student. The veterinary technician is expected to possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, refined psychomotor skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning. A desire to work with people as well as animals is critical to success in veterinary technology. Program graduates are awarded the associate of applied science degree.
