The Interactive Media Designer option prepares persons as specialties in selecting, creating and managing various forms of media for Internet or other interactive mode of delivery. Forms of media include digital audio and digital video for non-broadcast applications, hyperlinked text, graphics and rich media. Interface design, specifically the manner in which audience interacts with content is emphasized.

Students in this program option will be exposed to a broad range of tools, including web design applications, graphics editors, audio capture, video capture and editing, and 3-D modeling tools. Much of the coursework is project-based, and students will have the opportunity to customize to some extent their own learning experiences.

In addition to the five general Internet Technologies outcomes, the student will:
  • Evaluate, plan and execute appropriate solutions to Interactive Media problems;
  • Analyze and predict audience response to media formats and styles;
  • Choose appropriate media, and create or adapt content;
  • Distinguish effective and appropriate applications or interactive media from ineffective and inappropriate uses;
  • Evaluate emerging media technologies in terms of applicability to Internet Solutions.
