For students who have specific educational needs not covered by other areas of study or who wish a general back-ground without heavy coursework in any one program. This program offers flexibility in complying with requirements for transfer to baccalaureate colleges in cases where other areas of study do not do so.
Women's studies is a multidisciplinary program offering courses that:
· focus on women and issues of gender
· examine the experiences, roles and achievements of diverse women and the relationship between gender stereotypes and the realities of women's lives
· consider the ways in which gender, class, age, race, ethnicity and nationality shape the female experience.
Students wishing to concentrate in women's studies should select four WMS courses. Students who plan to transfer into a women's studies program should take WMS 101, Introduction to Women's Studies.
