The degree program in Histotechnology is designed to prepare students with the essential skills, techniques and specialized competencies required in the field of histotechnology. Histotechnicians assist pathologists in preparing tissues removed in surgery or autopsy for microscopic evaluation and are needed in industry, government facilities, health care institutions, and research institutions.
A clinical laboratory technician (CLT) uses laboratory skills, computers, technology, and knowledge of pathology to provide information needed by the physician to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. In clinical chemistry, for example, the CLT determines enzyme levels to diagnose a heart attack, glucose levels to monitor diabetes, and cholesterol levels to prevent heart disease. In hematology, the CLT studies blood cells to diagnose anemia and leukemia....
