Associate degrees in Cosmetology, Barber + Styling, and Nail Instructor: A program that prepares cosmetologists, barbers, stylists, nail technicians, and other grooming specialists to teach their specializations in licensed and accredited schools of cosmetology and barbering, and to prepare for licensure as instructors. Includes instruction in cosmetology arts and sciences teaching principles; student learning styles; professional curricula development; instructional planning; instructional methods and aids; student counseling and career assistance; test development; and classroom/clinic management.
The Communication/Communication Studies pre-major is designed for students who plan to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication/Communication Studies. The Cosmetology Instructor Certificate program prepares the student for an entry-level position as a Cosmetology Instructor. Emphasis is on classroom management, state rules and regulations, and course instruction. Classes meet to satisfy the 650 hours training necessary to qualify for the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology licensing exam.
Curriculum leads to the Cosmetology Instructor Associate in Science Degree requires a total of 18-19 units of which 15 units are in required courses.
