Associate degrees in Gerontology: A program that focuses on the human aging process and aged human populations, using the knowledge and methodologies of the social sciences, psychology and the biological and health sciences.
The Associate in Arts (AA) degree with a Gerontology concentration provides basic liberal arts and introductory courses for students who intend to transfer to another college or university‘s school of social work in preparation for careers in social work with an emphasis on aging.
The degree program will prepare students for the entry level position of Gerontology Specialist, a human services position that qualifies the individual for work in federal, state, and local agencies, both private and public, that provide outreach services for the elderly.
