Associate degrees in System, Networking, and LAN + WAN Management + Manager: A program that prepares individuals to oversee and regulate the computer system and performance requirements of an entire organization or network of satellite users. Includes instruction in performance balancing; redundancy; local area (LAN) and wide area (WAN) network management; system migration and upgrading; outage control; problem diagnosis and troubleshooting; and system maintenance budgeting and management.
The Network Administrator Assistant program option prepares the student to assist the Network Administrator with implementation and maintenance of a LAN as well as Internet connections, including installation of computer hardware, topology (wiring), installation of network hardware and software, setting up of user accounts, maintenance of accounts, monitoring network performance and rudimentary trouble shooting.
The Computer Science: Networking Option allows students to focus on the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities identified and recommended by the computer industry. The program will prepare students for the networking field, specifically focusing on certifications as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Network+, Novell Certified Network Administrator, or Microsoft Certified Professional.
