Africana Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study devoted to the critical and systematic examination of the cultural, political, social, and historical experiences of peoples of the African Diaspora. The major is designed to provide students with an integrated understanding and appreciation for the African, African American, Caribbean and other African Diaspora experiences in their diverse dimensions. The major consists of courses offered in various departments and programs including Anthropology, English, Folklore, History, Linguistics, Music, Political Science, Religious Studies, Romance Languages, Sociology, Urban Studies and Women’s Studies.
