Managing the financial resources of agribusinesses requires an appreciation for the inherent risks associated with the production and marketing of food and fiber. Weather, world events, international trade policy, food-borne illness and the fluctuations in global markets can create considerable financial uncertainty for agribusiness firms.
This concentration integrates the tools of corporate financial management with special emphasis on identifying and managing the unique risks inherent in the agribusiness sector. Graduates find employment in banking, insurance, brokerage and investment firms, property and land management, government agencies, as well as in the food industry.
After completing the required agribusiness core, students can select the Agribusiness Finance concentration core, which consists of 17 semester hours:
* AGB 431 Intermediate Agribusiness Financial Management (3 semester hours)
* AGB 434 Agriculture and Risk Management and Insurance (3 semester hours)
* AGB 435 Agricultural Commodities (3 semester hours)
* AGB upper-division electives (8 semester hours)
