International Agriculture is offered as an option of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. This option is designed to provide opportunities for students pursuing a major in Agricultural Economics to incorporate a special international component into their undergraduate education. Essentially this option gives students the educational background and training for involvement in international agriculture
or in international aspects of United States agriculture.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will have a better perspective of the international agricultural economy and the necessary background to pursue careers with various government or private agencies involved in international agricultural development and trade.
In addition, students will have opportunities to intern with USDA agencies and/or private industries to gain practical experiences and further insights into the international aspects of agriculture. As participants in the internship program, students will be better qualified to seek international careers with embassies, consulates, nonprofit organizations, and other international programs. They may also qualify for jobs in the U.S. with such agencies as the Foreign Agricultural Service and Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Agency for International Development, and multinational businesses
related to agricultural production, distribution, processing, and utilization.
