Program Purpose
The BFA in the Animation Program is an interdisciplinary degree program based on the conceptual ideas, aesthetics and histories of the visual arts, the cinema arts, and the technologies applicable to both. Students will become independent artists and innovators in the entertainment and visualization industries for the purpose of positively influencing the greater community.
The degree is offered by the College of Fine Arts and Communications through the cooperative involvement of the Department of Visual Arts and Design and the Department of Theatre and Media Arts and the School of Technology located in College of Engineering.
Expected Learning Outcomes
BFA Goals and Outcomes
Goal: Establish an individual artistic and critical voice.
Outcome 1: Apply knowledge and skills gain through the study of the history of the art form and appraise the usage in student work
Outcome 2: Assess student work both in the classroom and in the production process
Goal: Develop personal artistic and technical skills through the production of animated product
Outcome 1: Demonstrate a competent application of foundation drawing skills
Outcome 2: Demonstrate a competent application of the animation principles in a time based visualization
Outcome 3: Illustrate a working knowledge of quality visual storytelling
Outcome 4: Exhibit a working competency of both the arts and technologies involved in at least one specific area of the discipline
Goal: Contribute to the respective communities
Outcome 1: Practice collaborative production development through interdisciplinary creative works or experiences adequate to meet BFA Final project guidelines
