Anthropology is the comparative study of humanity, focusing on people in all places today and throughout history and prehistory. Our curriculum affords students the opportunity to understand the interaction between "what we know" and "what we do." Students come to DePaul to major in anthropology because of the opportunity to engage in several research projects and our summer archaeological field school. We bring students farther into this practical side of the discipline than any other B.A. program in the country.

Faculty members are productive scholars, with research expertise covering geographic areas from Europe, the Middle East, Pacific Islands, Africa, the Caribbean and the U.S. All have an interest in understanding the culture of cities and their institutions and the globalization of urban life.

Students will be prepared to pursue graduate studies, or make immediate use of the degree in public service administration, or some other form of applied work. Careers that benefit from a background in anthropology include: administration and/or public policy; research and work in museums; cultural resource management; environmental and park services; advertising, marketing, and public relations; human resources management; public health and health care; community services; design research; and law.
