The Applied Mathematics major is designed to provide students with an opportunity to obtain rigorous training in mathematics together with an introduction to a field of study that relies heavily on mathematics.
Choices for the application area include, biology, chemistry, computer science, finance and physics.
This degree was designed to prepare students to enter business or government employment after graduation. However, the mathematics courses that the student will complete will also prepare the student for graduate study, especially in applied mathematics and related fields.
An internship experience is an option within the requirements for this degree.
