Purpose and Career Objectives
* The Bachelor of Arts in Biology is designed for those students desiring
a liberal arts education emphasizing breadth of experience in biology, while
providing the flexibility to pursue significant concentration in other areas
of interest.

Coursework
Successful completion of the following academic program is required for
this degree:
* Completion of the general studies requirements for the Bachelor of Science
degree including a total of 120 hours of acceptable course work, 45 hours of
which must be in upper division courses.
* Completion of the following required courses (26 total credits):
* BIOL 203 & 204 General Biology (10 credits)
* BIOL 321 Genetics (3 credits)
* BIOL 323 Cellular Biology (3 credits)
* BIOL 325 Cellular/Genetics Lab (1 credit)
* BIOL 330 Ecology (4 credits)
* BIOL 332 Evolution (3 credits)
* BIOL 493, 494 Thesis I & II (two credits)
* Required support courses (13 credits):
* CHEM 111, 112 Introductory Chemistry (10 credits) or,
* CHEM 131, 132 General Chemistry 10 credits) and,
* CHEM 321 Organic Chemistry (5 credits)
* MATH 205 Introduction to Statistical Methods (3 credits)
* Students electing to take the B.A. in Biology must also complete a minor
of their choice for a grand total of 60-65 credits.
