The biology curriculum aims at awakening the student's interest in the living world, developing scientific habits in pursuing knowledge in science. The biology program is designed to provide students with a broad background and a solid foundation in biology on which they build their future careers.
The required curriculum for this major provides the basic core of courses to emphasize the study of living organisms and life processes. The course of study focuses on the concepts and techniques necessary for solution to real-world problems. Included are focuses on the acellular entities, cell structure, cellular metabolism, cellular organisms, plants, animals, as well as body form and function at the organismal level. Molecular concepts, genetics, metabolism, physiology, anatomical study, and the interrelationships of living organisms are included. The required courses are supplemented by courses selected to increase study in the desired area of concentration.
