Barry offers an undergraduate biology program that will provide you with the opportunity to prepare for a number of career goals. Possible alternatives include teaching; technical positions in laboratory and research centers; positions in business, industry, biological illustration, computer science; and many other areas requiring a biological background. Track I requirements may be chosen as listed.
40 semester hours in biology are required for this major including Biology 104, 112, 216, 303, and at least one course from each of the following core areas.
* Growth and development: Biology 220, 225, or 230
* Cellular and molecular biology: Biology 253, 325 or 330
* Physiological and biochemical principles: Biology 240, 334, or 335
* Environmental biology: Biology 305 or 310 or 312
* Biological theory: Biology 440 or 475
Students in this program must complete additional credit hours of biology electives. Students must also include Biology 300's sections as specified in "Other Biology Requirements" section of catalog; 12 semester hours in chemistry and 9 semester hours in mathematics or MAT 211 (4 s.h.). Physics 151 is recommended.
