The Biosystems Engineering degree program is accredited by the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and has had continuous accreditation since 1953. Biosystems Engineering graduates are eligible for registration as Professional Engineers. Students enroll in the College of Engineering; however, the program is jointly supervised by the deans of engineering and agriculture, and is administered by the Department of Biosystems Engineering. Biosystems Engineers complete the full set of basic engineering courses required of all disciplines in the College of Engineering. Students obtain additional training in process engineering for biological materials; environmental engineering for treatment and processing of biological wastes; environmental control systems for agricultural production facilities; structural analysis and design; soil and water resources engineering; and design of machine systems and mobile equipment.
