The primary aim of botanical studies is to understand how organisms survive and reproduce within the limits imposed by the current or past environments. Such research can be at refined scales, such as microscopic observation of the smallest organisms, to broad scales, such as unraveling earth history through examination of fossil remains. Students focusing on botanical studies typically receive training in cell biology, anatomy, physiology, embryology, genetics, conservation science, ethology, ecology, and evolution. This background can be used as a springboard to further training in medicine or graduate education.

Tracks:

A degree in Botany can follow track. The track in Ecology Evolution is designed for those interested in graduate training in plant diversity.
