Mission: The College of Charleston is a state supported comprehensive institution providing a high quality education in the arts and sciences, education and business. Consistent with its heritage since its founding in 1770, the College retains a strong liberal arts undergraduate curriculum. The business administration major offers students an opportunity to prepare for careers in today’s challenging world of business by delivering a comprehensive program of academics, technology, and leadership. A diverse business core and a variety of electives constitute an accredited curriculum which is based on the liberal arts and sciences foundation for which the College of Charleston is so well known.
The global hospitality tourism industry, which blends the lodging, food, attractions, cultural and travel industries, is the world's largest industry with $4.5 trillion in expenditures generating 212 million jobs. The World Tourism Organization's current projection is by the year 2010, 338 million people will be employed in the industry that will grow to $8.4 trillion in expenditures.
