The Child Development major offers students a program that has been established to prepare students to become teachers of young children from infancy through the early elementary years. In addition, it is designed to provide students the basic foundation for becoming directors of early childhood programs.
Students seeking to work in the field of early childhood education in California may meet requirements established by either the California Department of Social Services or the Child Development Permits offered by the California Department of Education. Coursework to be utilized toward a Child Development Permit must have an earned grade of “C” or better and be non-remedial.
