The Bachelor of Science degree program in Childhood Education is designed to address the need for elementary school teachers who are bilingual. The College trains its childhood education teachers as Facilitators of Learning who approach children as total human beings, and the center of the educational agenda. It prepares bilingual students to work as teachers of kindergarten through sixth grade, and provides a foundation for further professional training in the field of education and/or educational administration.

Objectives
* to provide Puerto Ricans and other students with the values, skills and knowledge necessary for professional service in the field of Childhood Education.
* to develop a role model of teaching referred to as Facilitator of Learning that concentrates on the development of cognitive, affective and motor competencies in the learner.
* to train teachers who will be involved in the examination of social, political and developmental issues of Hispanic children, and who utilize bilingualism and biculturalism as a means of instruction.
* to enable students to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree opening the way to further professional training in the field of education.
