Program Purpose
The purpose of this degree is to provide a curriculum to train students to practice clinical laboratory science/medical technology in diagnostic laboratories or other health care related settings. Successful completion of the program qualifies the student to sit for certification examinations.

Expected Learning Outcomes
At completion of the degree, the clinical laboratory scientist/medical technologist will:

1. Demonstrate cognitive knowledge and perform the full range of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, clinical chemistry, immunohematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, coagulation, molecular diagnostics, laboratory operations, and other emerging diagnostics
2. Play a role in the development and evaluation of test systems and interpretative algorithms
3. Communicate to enable consultative interactions with members of the healthcare team, external relations, customer service and patient education
4. Possess basic knowledge and skills in financial operations, marketing, and human resource management of the clinical laboratory to enable cost-effective, high-quality, value-added laboratory services
5. Evaluate information management systems to enable effective, timely, accurate, and cost-effective reporting of laboratory-generated information
